The hypocrisy of Madam Zille - ANCYL

League says DA opposed to a citizenry informed by the ANC not itself

ANC Youth League Statement on the hypocrisy of Madam Zille

The African National Congress Youth League has watched with disbelief as the Democratic Alliance has gone to great lengths to vilify the ANC and the ANC-led government for sponsoring The New Age/ SABC breakfasts sessions. Unlike the ANC, we don't believe that the DA is opposed to an informed citizenry but rather the DA is opposed to a citizenry that is informed by the African National Congress, preferring that only the DA communicate to the people of this country.

Since Madam Zille was a Mayor of Cape Town, she has had a radio show on Heart P4 Radio Station in Cape Town. The show airs every Monday and Madam Zille continues even now to use that platform to drive DA propaganda to the people of Cape Town. P4 is a commercial station and thus charges the Western Cape Government handsomely for this honour to communicate to the people, an obligation that the DA believes is theirs only. Indeed then it begs the question, does the DA government pay for this show with the sole objective to communicate to residents of the Western Cape the work and challenges of that government, or is the DA paying for these services in order to prop up an ailing station?

It is extremely disingenuous and hypocritical of Madam Zille and her ilk, to seek to vilify the ANC and its government for seeking to ensure that the people of this country are regularly kept abreast on the work of government by providing platforms for interactive and engaging discussions. It seems it has become the norm for the DA to stand on rooftops, pointing fingers at the ANC whilst they themselves are guilty of the behaviour they accuse the ANC and its government of. The funding of the DA by the Gupta family is another case in point where we have seen the DA slander rebounding to expose the duplicity and deceitful nature of the DA.

The battle of ideas continues as the ANC seeks to build hegemony in society around our vision for a non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and prosperous society. We support continuous efforts by the South African government to ensure that its successes and challenges are reported to the people on a regular and sustainable basis. Our call is for such platforms to be expanded even further to ensure that the message of a South Africa hard at work reaches even more of our people.
