FF Plus welcomes VBS court ruling thwarting ANC cadres

FF Plus welcomes VBS court ruling thwarting ANC cadres

11 November 2022

The FF Plus welcomes the ruling by the High Court in Pretoria that rejected an application by Kabelo Matsepe to have part of the municipal financial regulations declared invalid.

Matsepe is one of the main figures implicated in the VBS Bank municipal fraud scandal.

Matsepe specifically wanted the clause that prohibits municipalities from investing tax money in unregistered banks to be declared invalid.

The violation of these regulations forms part of the basis of the criminal charges faced by Matsepe and others implicated in the VBS Bank scandal.

Clearly, all attempts by Matsepe, a former ANC youth leader, and the other ANC members implicated in the corruption and fraud at municipalities and the Bank to evade legislation are futile.

The courts are now enforcing anti-corruption legislation after the ANC government failed for years to eradicate large-scale fraud and theft committed by ANC cadre networks in municipalities

The VBS Bank scandal could not have taken place if the ANC government had fulfilled its constitutional duty to perform effective oversight on all levels of government.

South Africans deserve better than the ANC.
