2012 NSC: Western Cape exceeds 38 000 NSC passes following the release of the supplementary examination results
27 May 2013
One of the Western Cape's three main strategic objectives in education is to ensure that as many learners as possible have the opportunity to write and pass their National Senior Certificate.
Some learners achieve a NSC pass through the October/November NSC examinations. Other learners, who have failed a maximum of two subjects or who were medically unfit during the examinations, are given a second chance to complete their NSC requirements by writing supplementary examinations.
In February and March, this year, 6 469 candidates made use of the opportunity to re-write either one or two subjects in the NSC supplementary examinations.
The results of these examinations have now been verified and I am delighted to announce that, together with the remarks for 2012 and the final 2012 NSC results, the Western Cape has exceeded 38 000 passes for the 2012 NSC examinations.
