SACP statement on the defamatory insults by EFF’s Julius Malema and his ilk
26 July 2015
The South African Communist Party (SACP) notes the defamatory insults hurled at its General Secretary Comrade Blade Nzimande, the ANC President Comrade Jacob Zuma and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa by Julius Malema at his party’s two years birthday picnic yesterday (see eNCA report). We dismiss his rantings with the contempt they deserve. We will not descend to the same level.
As the SACP, we will not descend to the same level. However, it is important to remember the forgotten Public Protector’s report, titled “On the Point of Tenders (Report No.10 of 2012/13) which found that Malema, through his Ratanang Family Trust and shareholding in Guilder Investments was clearly implicated in and benefitted improperly from unlawful, fraudulent and corrupt conduct.
These activities amounted to a prolonged looting of public resources in Limpopo. The plundering contributed to five Limpopo provincial government departments being put under administration a few years ago.
The insults by Malema and his ilk directed at our General Secretary Party are motivated by the fact that the SACP was the first political party to expose Malema’s demagogy and corrupt tenderpreneural activities. He knows that we will continue to do so.
