The interpretation of the constitution is not class neutral
The SACP has noted with disgust an open letter from one Chairperson of an organisation called the Afrikanerbond to the ANC President and Secretary General. We have also noted the prompt and sharp response by the ANC.
The SACP actually finds it appalling that 17 years into our democracy we still have organisations of this nature in our country. Let alone their guts to write to the ANC such garbage. It is a shame that we still have an organisation that wants to teach us about diversity but it is itself racially not diverse. In fact in all respects this is the old apartheid Broederbond.
The attempt by such an apartheid relic to lecture us about the constitution have exposed a reading of the constitution and our laws generally that is always aimed at protecting the class interests of the bourgeoisie.
Equally, their grumbling about affirmative action, employment equity and transformation exposes their nostalgia for white dominance and supremacy. Today, speaking of the land that our forefathers were forcefully removed from, we are told of "fundamental rights such as property ownership" whilst referring to property stolen from the majority of our forebears.
The SACP will continue to campaign for a thorough-going land and agrarian reform programme wherein the land shall be shared by all who work it. Our generosity and understanding on the question of land has been abused and taken for granted.
