SAMWU will ensure ANC wins elections
SAMWU in the Limpopo Province would like to correct the statement contained in the Star newspaper dated 11th January 2011, wherein an impression was created that the largest local Government Union SAMWU will not be supporting the African National Congress in Musina, during the fourth coming local Government Elections. We call upon the Star newspaper to come forward with tangible evidence that proves that SAMWU is part of the community of organizations that are working against the ANC.
Given the problems in Musina, SAMWU would still implement its National Congress resolution by investing its resources in ensuring that the ANC achieves an outright victory during Local Government Elections. SAMWU will not support any other group or independent candidate during elections. We therefore distance ourselves from any community action that seeks to undermine the support which SAMWU will be providing the ANC.
We further want to state that SAMWU is not involved in any community related action that seeks to create instability in Musina. While taking into cognizance the genuine demand of the community, we are of the view that processes are in place in ensuring that those problems are addressed.
Our major interest as SAMWU is to protect the rights of our members while making meaningful contributions towards improving service delivery. We will work with the ANC to ensure that we better the lives of the working class in this country. We refuse to be part of any action or group that will undermine the efforts of our Government.
