We’ll vote against MONC in Tania Campbell – ActionSA Ekurhuleni

Party says decision is in line with their commitment to keep the ANC/EFF coalition out of power

ActionSA will vote against motion of no confidence in Tania Campbell

30 March 2023

ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni Caucus will today vote against a motion of no confidence in the City of Ekurhuleni Mayor Tania Campbell in line with our commitment to keeping the ANC and EFF coalition out of power. As well as avoiding the installation of one-seat party mayors who serve at the behest of the ANC and EFF as seen in the City of Johannesburg.

ActionSA left the multi-party coalition in the City of Ekurhuleni in November last year out of concerns that service delivery declined under Campbell’s leadership, and that a stable majority coalition could not be formed.

At the time we promised to become a constructive opposition in the Ekurhuleni Council to ensure that better services are delivered to the city’s residents. ActionSA also committed to continuing voting for a DA candidate in a bid to keep the ANC out of power.

While ActionSA remains concerned about the DA-led coalition and Mayor Campbell’s inability to improve service delivery, we believe that things would be considerably worse under an ANC-EFF coalition.

ActionSA remains committed to being a constructive opposition in the City of Ekurhuleni where we seek to improve service delivery for all residents.

We will also continue to advocate for the inclusion of insourcing in the City, in line with our value of Social Justice, and to ensure better security provision to improve rule of law in Ekurhuleni communities.
