Zuma again delays Spy Tapes disclosure - James Selfe

DA CFE says South Gauteng high court has granted President leave to appeal

Zuma's delaying tactics are an abuse of public money

The DA is disappointed that the South Gauteng High Court has granted leave to appeal the release of the spy tapes. The appeal will be heard in the Supreme Court of Appeal.

This will mean another delay in a case that has so far spanned four and a half years. With a bottomless pit of public money at its disposal, the President and his legal team have used every legal technicality to shield him from facing justice. The public is rightly upset that its hard-earned money is being used to get Zuma off the hook.

This is not the end of the road. The DA will oppose the appeal because we believe the spy tapes and other related documents form part of the reduced record of decision which the Supreme Court of Appeal ordered the National Prosecuting Authority to hand over to us.

The DA will keep going in its attempt to prove that the decision to drop the charges against the President was irrational and politically-motivated. It is essential for the survival of our constitutional democracy that we do so.
