Zuma blocking SIU probe into Nkandla - Anchen Dreyer

DA MP says President has yet to issue the necessary proclamation

Zuma blocking SIU probe into Nkandla

President Jacob Zuma is effectively preventing an investigation into his private residence in Nkandla by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

In a parliamentary reply to a DA question, the President reveals that he has not issued a proclamation to allow for an SIU probe into the R200 million spent on security upgrades at his private residence. This is despite this being announced by Minister Thulas Nxesi in January this year.

Without such a proclamation by the President, the investigation cannot commence.

The delay in issuing such a directive raises suspicion. If President Zuma has nothing to hide, then he must issue a proclamation and allow the SIU to investigate.

The DA will be writing to the President requesting that he issues the proclamation without further delay.

South Africans have waited long enough for decisive action to be taken regarding the dodgy security upgrades and the waiting period must come to an end.

The DA will not rest until the truth about the R200m spent on President's Zuma private residence in Nkandla is revealed.
