Presidency rejects rumours of Ambassadorial Posting for Premier
20 January 2012
The Presidency has noted false media reports relating to an alleged ambassadorial posting for the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Zweli Mkhize (see report).
Initial reports claimed that President Jacob Zuma was to appoint Dr Mkhize as ambassador to New Zealand and fresh rumours and media enquiries state Australia as the destination.
The rumours and reports are false, unfounded and mischievous. The President is not about to, and has also not appointed the Premier as an ambassador to anywhere in the world. He has also never had a discussion about a diplomatic posting with Premier Mkhize. The stories and rumours are a complete fabrication.
