"Dad drinks daughter's blood!" - Daily Sun

The front page and lead story of SA's largest daily newspaper, October 12 2013

Daily Sun (October 12 2013) - OVER and over the voices in his head repeated their evil instructions. Finally he could no longer resist the voices and attacked the first human being he could find - his own four-year-old daughter . . .

HE STABBED HER IN THE NECK AND DRANK HER BLOOD LIKE A WILD ANIMAL!

The 27-year-old father told cops he had heard the voices for weeks. "Drink blood, drink blood," the voices told him.

He was in his rented shack in Ivory Park, Tembisa, Ekurhuleni, with his wife and his daughter when, it seems, he could no longer resist.

The man's wife (37) told the cops of the horror scene that could have lasted no more than a few minutes but must have felt like a lifetime for the helpless mother.

The man allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed the child in her neck where she was playing. Then he clutched her body tightly to him, biting at the wound in her neck and sucking her blood. His shocked and helpless wife could do nothing to stop the wild man. She ran into the road screaming for help. She attracted the attention of cops in a police van.

"Help! Help! My husband is eating my child!" they heard her scream.

Together they raced back to the shack . . . where the father was carrying on his evil deed. According to cops he had stabbed the little girl, slashing open her stomach.

Her intestines were lying on the ground. He was still sucking her blood.

The child was rushed to the Tembisa Hospital, where she is in a critical condition.

The father, covered with blood, was arrested.

At the holding cells he took off all his clothes, insisting on being naked.

When asked questions, he wouldn't talk much.

Police spokeswoman Constable Sharon Mahamba told Daily Sun: "He said he has been hearing strange voices for two weeks.

"He also said men in black and red gowns visited him and told him to find and drink human blood.

"His daughter became an easy target. He said when the voices finally persuaded him he jumped on his child."

Mahamba said the man is expected to appear in Tembisa Magistrates Court to face charges of attempted murder.

The names of the father, mother and the child have been withheld to protect the identity of the child.
