Clive Derby Lewis' prostate cancer has spread - Lawyer

Marius Coertze says inmate's gangrene, hypertension and skin cancer being treated

UPDATE ON MR CLIVE DERBY-LEWIS - 4 NOV 2010

Mr Clive Derby-Lewis underwent another operation yesterday - 3 Nov 2010 - during which the last of the skin cancer was removed from his facial area. It was his 5th operation over all and the third operation to his face.

The prostate cancer has been confirmed a week ago with a biopsy, but yesterday it was discovered that it is worse than was expected. The cancer has already spread to some of his other internal organs, which is bad news. He will receive chemo therapy and radiation in an attempt to slow down the cancer.

His right lower leg - where the gangerene en dead tissue have been surgically removed - seems to be healing well, although he will be left with a permanent scar as a result of the lost tissue.

He still suffers from hypertension - high blood pressure - but he is being daily medicated and monitored to keep it under control.

The news of his prostate cancer came as a fresh shock to him, but he bravely tries to stay in a positive mood and not become depressed.

His wife would try to visit him at hospital today. Last week she has been bluntly refused, because she did not have her visiting pass with her, although the visit had been arranged.

Since the incident with the laptop computer - which his wife had nothing to do with - Mr Derby-Lewis has been bluntly refused any reading material. Also, he has been refused to receive clean washing - mainly pajamas - from his wife during visits. He is still being chained to his bed during most part of the day.
