City dispels rumours of tropical storm approaching Cape Town

The City's Disaster Risk Management Centre is aware of a hoax message that is being  circulated via social media and other networks regarding a tropical storm approaching Cape Town in the next few hours, and would like to advise residents that this is not the case.

The forecast summary indicates that for the next few hours the Cape Peninsula will experience cloudy and cold conditions, with rain in the south-west, and isolated showers over the central and southern coastal regions.

The South African Weather Service has confirmed that it has not issued any warning about a Tropical Cyclone.
