Now Aurora gets the boot - Solidarity

Union says new liquidators have moved against company

Second Aurora victory: Aurora gets the boot; security company to supervise: Solidarity praises new liquidators' swift action

Trade union Solidarity today welcomed the decision by the new team of liquidators of the former Pamodzi mines, to give Aurora Empowerment Systems three days to evacuate the mining assets in Orkney and Springs. Solidarity regarded this decision as the second victory this week in the Aurora saga after two of the liquidators, Enver Motala and Gavin Gainsford were fired earlier this week. The liquidators also recommended that a security company should supervise the evacuation to ensure that Aurora does not pillage the mining assets further.

According to Gideon du Plessis, Deputy General Secretary of Solidarity, it is high time that Aurora gets the boot. "Aurora is not only responsible for the massive social crisis which impoverished more than 40 000 people, but they also stripped the mining asset of all value and caused South Africa as investment possibility immeasurable damage," Du Plessis explained.
