She claims her own daughter treats her like a child in her own house.
SHE SAYS BEING BEATEN WITH A MOP IS ONLY ONE EVENT IN A LONG LIST OF ABUSE AND
HUMILIATION.
Anna Tolo (52) of Sophiatown, Joburg said on Monday her daughter, Olebogeng Tolo (28) woke her up. Her daughter instructed her to do a daily chore Anna thought her daughter should do herself.
But Olebogeng had other ideas.
According to Anna, the daughter flew into a rage, grabbing the nearest weapon she could find, which happened to be a mop, and started beating Anna.
By the time Olebogeng was finished, Anna was left with an injured neck and serious bruises.
"Even my feet and my hands are bruised," said Anna.
Crying uncontrollably, Anna, a sangoma, told Daily Sun this was not the first time she'd been moered by her daughter.
"I'm treated like a kid in my own house," she said.
"The neighbours laugh at me because my daughter insults me in public."
Anna was treated at a clinic and went to open a case at the Sophiatown Police Station, but the cops wouldn't hear of it.
"They looked at me as if I was crazy. They told me to make peace with my daughter," she said.
"One of the officers said all they can do is to warn my daughter but they couldn't arrest her."
The heartbroken mother told Daily Sun that she wanted to kill herself.
"I have suffered enough in my life. Killing myself will save me this abuse from my daughter," she said.
Olebogeng confirmed she fought with her mum but denied she beat her mother with a mop.
She said they had an argument in the bedroom and then her mother grabbed her and started strangling her.
"She grabbed me and started screaming, saying I was beating her. She grabbed me by the neck and I couldn't breathe," said Olebogeng.
"I pushed her away and she fell on the ground and I ran away.
"I don't know where she got the bruises. When I left home she was okay."
Olebogeng said her mum has had an anger problem ever since she separated from her father.
Olebogeng said after the fight she packed her belongings and left the house.
Provincial spokeswoman, Captain Doniah Mothutsane, said if the victims are not satisfied with the service they received they should approach the station commander and report the members involved.
