"Oscar scores in jail!" - Daily Sun

"Inmates upset as Pistorius and Radovan take it easy behind bars!" - front page lead, March 11 2015

Daily Sun (March 11 2015) - IT'S NOT the first time that inmates have complained about celebrity prisoners they believe are being treated like royalty.

This time the spotlight is falling on Oscar Pistorius and Radovan Krejcir. . .

AND HERE THEY ARE, HAVING FUN PLAYING DISKI.

The two, who seem to have become friends, are wearing civilian clothes and shooting goals at each other in front of a painted brick wall. Oscar is wearing shorts.

They are said to be in cells in the same section, and have been accused of getting treatment in prison that other inmates can only dream of.

According to a source in the prison, their special treatment has angered inmates who think Oscar and Radovan should be treated just like any other
prisoner.

The source claimed that for Oscar and Radovan it is more like a holiday camp than a prison.

In November last year, it was reported that Oscar and Radovan were training mates at Kgosi Mampuru Prison in Pretoria.

The two were said to be using a bicycle and a treadmill for their training.

The source said the two get their own special breakfast in the morning. Oscar allegedly gets tea with milk and fruit like grapes and pineapples, as well as mineral water.

"I wish we could all be treated the same," the source complained.

During the day Oscar and Radovan go outside to enjoy the sun and enjoy themselves on exercise machines outside their cells, including kicking a soccer ball around in the exercise yard.

One of the greatest privileges for prisoners is visits from loved ones. And it appears these two get visitors almost every weekend. Oscar is also allowed to hug and kiss visitors instead of the strict "no touching" policy being enforced.

Oscar, who is known to collect expensive wristwatches, is also allowed to wear jewellery and has a radio in prison.

"I can't understand the laws of this country, which favour certain individuals and not others," said the source.

"We are all in prison and we must be treated the same. The colour of your skin should not be a passport to get on the sweet side of the law."

The former paralympian was sentenced to five years in prison for culpable homicide after the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day, 2013.

Radovan Krejcir is facing multiple charges including kidnapping, attempted murder and dealing in drugs.

Ofentse Morwane, spokesman for the department of correctional services, said all inmates are allowed to have an hour of exercise a day. He said as Krejcir is an unsentenced inmate, he does not have to wear prison uniform. Pistorius would normally wear a tracksuit during exercise to cover his prosthetic legs.

"The allegations that offenders are denied games is unfortunate and misleading to the public," said Morwane's statement.
