DA KZN extends condolences following murder of Abahlali Basemjondolo kwaNdengezi Chair

It is with tremendous sadness that we learn of the brutal slaying of Abahlali Basemjondolo kwaNdengezi Chairperson, Thuli Ndlovu, who died last night after being shot seven times by unknown gunmen.

The DA extends its most sincere and heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. 

DA eThekwini caucus leader, Zwakele Mncwango and Councillors, together with Abahlali Basemjondolo President Sbu Zikode will today visit the family, friends and neighbours of maNdlovu to pass on their personal messages of condolences.

maNdlovu played an instrumental role in negotiations towards a memorandum of understanding between the DA and shack dwellers. 

Her vision and commitment to the cause will be sorely missed.  Her death leaves with us a void, but also a determination to work towards a crime free society.

The DA will monitor investigations into this senseless and barbaric killing.

We call on KZN Community Safety MEC, Willies Mchunu, to ensure that no stone is left unturned in bringing the perpetrators of this cowardly act to book.
