ANC must give Khulubuse's donation to destitute Aurora workers - NUM

Union says fatcat moves around with luxury vehicles whilst poor workers starve at his mines (Apr 11)

NUM appeals onto the ANC to pass on the Khulubuse donation to the destitute Aurora workers

The National Union of  Mineworkers (NUM) has noted with disgust media reports that chairperson of Aurora Empowerment Systems, Khulubuse Zuma has pledged or donated R1 million rands to the African National Congress (ANC) in Kwazulu-Natal.

Over two thousand workers remain unpaid at Aurora ‘s Orkney mine for a period of over two years whilst the fatcat itself moves around with expensive luxurious vehicles and has a nerve to donate some of his excesses whilst poor workers starve at his mines.

We plead on the ruling party to pass on the donation to the poor destitute workers not for wages but for them to be able to buy food. As Aurora appears in front of the Portfolio Committee on Mining tomorrow, we call on the committee to act without fear or favour and take serious action against the company that seeks to make more money on scrap rather than mining.

It is sad and regrettable that Khulubuse Zuma can want  to donate a million to the ANC whilst he failed to make a small donation towards the funeral costs of his workers who died a while ago thus acting against the principles of ubuntu. We appeal to his conscience to ensure that those Aurora workers are paid as soon as possible.
