ANC YOUTH LEAGUE STATEMENT ON THE OUTCOMES OF THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING HELD IN JOHANNESBURG ON SUNDAY, THE 15TH OF APRIL 2012
The ANC Youth League held its special National Executive Committee meeting on the 15th of April 2010 in Johanneburg to discuss the ANC National Disciplinary Committee public announcement of a decision to summarily suspend ANC Youth League President.
On the 4th of April 2012, ANC National Disciplinary Committee Chairperson released a public statement and wrote a letter to ANC YL President which temporarily suspended him and banned him from attending meetings of the ANC, and all it's Leagues and further banned him from speaking about the ANC anywhere in South Africa.
The NEC agreed that ANC Youth League President should continue participating as a President of the ANC Youth League and perform all his functions as a President, because the decision to temporarily suspend has not been officially communicated to the ANCYL as a structure of the ANC.
The previous ordinary meeting of the ANC YL National Executive Committee meeting gave us a mandate to protect and defend the autonomy of the ANC YL by not agreeing with the removal or release of any of the elected leaders of the ANC Youth League until 2014, and we are guided by that resolution.
The National Executive Committee meeting is of a strong conviction that we were elected by the 24th National Congress in Gallagher Convention Centre as a collective and the President of the ANCYL will never be removed by a process that did not include the participation and voice of the ANC Youth League membership and YL structures.
