BARA DOCTORS NOT PAID OVERTIME
Doctors at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital are outraged at the termination of their overtime pay at the end of December last year.
For senior doctors this means a pay cut of about one third this month, and even more for junior doctors who work longer overtime hours.
The commuted overtime contracts of 750 doctors at the hospital were arbitrarily cancelled although they are supposed to run until the end of the financial year in March.
It is totally unfair that doctors are not paid for what is often more than 20 hours overtime a week.
This is a massive blunder by the Gauteng Health Department that must be reversed as soon as possible, otherwise many doctors will leave the hospital.
