Cape Town floods and the neglect from the DA
COSATU extends its condolences to all the people who are facing incredible hardships as a result of the DA refusing to prioritize the needs of the poor. The flooding that we have seen is not unusual and it's something that we see every year, yet the City and the Province do very little to avoid this hardship. They also know when bad weather is going to hit, but they only send relief the next day.
Whatever happened to preventive action? COSATU calls on Communities who do not get assistance from the City to call COSATU and we will force them to respond to the plight and needs of our people
To add insult to injury the City continues with its evictions in the cold and stormy Cape weather, truly showing no regard for the poor. The Mayor and Premier also make no effort to mobilize the communities to respond to the plight of people. They ignore the devastation as they see the poor as a failure of their perfect City, where they say the refugees as just ruining the statistics.
They make no effort to mobilize and inspire the nation and communities to act together in defense of the social injury suffered by the poor communities. They do not rally the people in solidarity, lest the people get used to expecting justice in Cape Town. This is the City that defends the generational privileges of apartheid beneficiaries, who has very little regard for those who suffer the apartheid generational disadvantages.
Where are our leaders when our people suffer? They are snug and warm in their mansions in the suburbs. They forget about our people in their hour of need and cannot lead the people of Cape Town in action and in deed.
