Cape Town working with SAPS to minimise disruptions - De Lille

Mayor says more police officers will be deployed at identified hotspots

City working to minimise impact of possible disruptions on Wednesday

The City of Cape Town is working closely with the South African Police Services and a range of other stakeholders to ensure that we minimise the impact of any possible disruption to major transport routes into the city tomorrow morning.

In consultation with the South African Police Services, we have made provision for the deployment of an increased number of law enforcement staff to identified hotspots throughout the city.

Furthermore, we have put in place a number of other contingency measures to help prepare for any disruptions that may occur.

At this stage is unclear what the possible extent of any disruption may be, however, it must made clear that any illegal actions will be dealt with firmly and within the confines of the law.

We encourage all residents of the city to continue with their normal daily business tomorrow, but also to remain vigilant, especially when travelling into the city.
