The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Gauteng is deeply concerned about the recent explosion that occurred in the City of Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD), specifically around Joubert and Bree Street. This explosion has cause serious damage in the City infrastructure and properties involved in the scene.

While the cause of this unfortunate incident is currently unknown, we urge all residents and motorists to exercise extreme caution and prioritize their safety by avoiding the affected areas.

We are in contact with relevant authorities to gather more information about the incident and to ensure that necessary measures are taken to prevent any further harm.

In times like these, it is crucial for us as a community to come together and support one another. We encourage residents to remain vigilant, report any suspicious activities or objects to the authorities, and follow their instructions diligently. It is only through collective efforts that we can maintain a safe environment for all.

We call upon law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion and bring those responsible to justice. We also call on the City and Provincial Emergency Services, Department of Roads and Infrastructure, Disaster Management Services and Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) to quickly intervene and investigate the cause of this tragedy.

The safety and well-being of our communities are of utmost importance to us. We extend our sympathies to anyone who may have been affected by this incident and assure them that we are closely monitoring the situation.
