EFF welcomes the judgement in the case against the CIC Julius Malema
4 August 2015
The EFF welcomes the outcome of the court judgment in the case against CIC Julius Malema. Judge Billy Motlhe ruled that the matter is struck off the roll and said CIC Julius Malema is free to go. We have always maintained that the charges against CIC Julius Malema were politically motivated and only fabricated to discredit the economic emancipation movement.
The state had a legal option of applying for separation and continue to try the CIC on his own. They refused to do this because they know that they have no case against the CIC. If they had and wanted him behind bars they would have applied for separation.
We know that they have nothing that can stand a day in court. We know that the point was always to have a shadow of dark cloud hanging over the leader of the economic emancipation movement. The EFF celebrates that judges still stick to the facts and do not allow to be drawn into political manipulation to settle petty political scores.
This judgment is one of the reasons why we must believe in our democracy; that it lives and still works despite the problems facing parliament and the executive. Everywhere the ANC politicians have entered and gained hegemony they render everything morally bankrupt. The judiciary, despite its challenges, remains legitimate and free of their corruption.
