DA WELCOMES ADMINISTRATOR FOR GAUTENG HEALTH DEPT

The Democratic Alliance welcomes the appointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers as administrator for the Gauteng Health Department.

This intervention is long overdue as it was promised in December last year.

First priority must be payments to all suppliers within 30 days as required by law.

The award of contracts must be scrutinized to ensure value for money and effectiveness as this is a weak area in this department.

A heavy responsibility rests on the administrator to get quality health services to patients, cutting the long queues and waiting lists for operations.
