UCT executive reaches agreement with trade unions

The University of Cape Town executive reached an agreement with the trade unions on Wednesday, 13 September 2017. Following ongoing negotiations, the UCT executive is pleased to announce that two outstanding points have been resolved and an agreement reached that puts an end to a proposed strike.

Dear colleagues and students
On Tuesday, 12 September 2017, we reported on the ongoing negotiation process with trade unions. We said that the parties had reached a significant degree of common ground last week, and that UCT expected to continue negotiations this week on outstanding points. We also reported that one trade union had given notice over the weekend of a proposed strike this Friday.
