Dlamini-Zuma must explain decision to cancel GijimaAst contract - ID

Joe Mcgulwa calls for release of forensic report into the Who Am I Online tender

ID'S JOE MCGLUWA WANTS CLARITY ON "WHO AM I ONLINE" TENDER PROCESS FORENSIC REPORT AND CANCELLATION

Joe Mcgluwa, the ID spokesperson for Home Affairs has called on Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma ‘to take us into her confidence over why the Department has terminated the "Who am I online" contract with GijimaAst.'

The ID Member of Parliament, who has repeatedly over the past 14 months requested a copy of the report on the forensic probe commissioned by the former Minister into the tender process eventually won by Gijima, has made his call after media reports that the company is preparing to launch a lawsuit against the Government for breach of contract.

‘We in the Independent Democrats are hoping that it will not be during a court battle between Gijima and the Department when we finally get answers to our questions,' Mr Mcgluwa says.

‘The ID wants to know the following:

1. Firstly, has Minister Nkosazana Dlamini- Zuma seen the forensic report commissioned by the former Minister?

2. Secondly, if she has seen the report then is the cancellation of the contract related to the forensic findings contained in this report?

‘The Minister has repeatedly told me in replies to questions for written response that she has never seen the report and that Sita must still release it, but for the ID it is hard to imagine how a Minister would not use her position to get hold of a copy of the report and get on top of things,' says Mcgluwa.

‘However, when Sita comes to brief the Home Affairs Portfolio Committee in Parliament tomorrow on the forensic report, hopefully then we will get some clarity.'

Sita's briefing to the Portfolio Committee will start at 09H30 tomorrow morning in the Old Assembly's Room E249, which is on the Second Floor.

‘But I am not happy to just go and sit there and listen to Sita giving us a presentation on what will probably be their own sanitised version of the report. It is our right to have a copy of the full report and that is what I will be fighting for,' Mcgluwa says.

‘To the Independent Democrats it also does not make sense that Sita, the very organisation the Minister herself said did not "do as it was supposed to do", will now be giving us a briefing on the forensic report that none of us have even seen.'
