DA welcomes arrest of ARV drug gang syndicate
The DA in Gauteng commends the valiant efforts of police in a sting operation yesterday that caught officials who sold free medicines to desperate patients.
The Sowetan this morning reports that an illicit drug syndicate selling ARV medication has been uncovered at the Esselen Street Clinic in Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
HIV / Aids patients were tricked by clinic employees into thinking that there was no medication available. Then the officials would claim to have a reserve supply that they would sell at prices ranging from R50 to R100.
It is disgusting that officials abuse their position and exploit the desperation of HIV / Aids patients.
The DA trusts that the officials will face the full might of the law.
