The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in KwaZulu-Natal is overwhelmed with gratitude to the people of the province, following its resounding victory in yesterday’s by-elections, where the Party secured 7 out of 12 contested wards.

The IFP has gained a majority in several wards, many of which were previously controlled by the ANC.

The IFP recorded victory in Ward 10 of uMvoti Municipality in Greytown, Ward 10 of uMthonjaneni Municipality, Ward 15 of uPhongolo Municipality, Ward 11 of Nongoma Municipality, and Wards 2, 9, and 19 of uMzumbe Municipality in the South Coast of KZN.

This significant victory for the Party affirms the continued trust the people of KZN have in the IFP’s leadership. It is evident that the residents of KZN support the IFP’s decision to form a Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) in the province, which will ensure swift and effective service delivery, that will put the citizens of KZN first.

The IFP urges its seven newly-elected councillors to emulate the exemplary leadership of the late Founder and President Emeritus, Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi.

HRH Prince Buthelezi dedicated his life to the struggle for liberation and the provision of services and opportunities to the people of KwaZulu-Natal and South Africa at large.

The IFP in KZN extends its heartfelt thanks to all its volunteers, constituency leaders, PEC members, NEC members and ground forces for their dedication in securing this victory.
