Kgwadi: Keep students safe – AfriForum Youth

VC must ensure no exam disruption, says organisation

AfriForum Youth aims warning at Prof Kgwadi

22 October 2015

Prof Dan Kgwadi, Vice-chancellor of the North-West University, has been warned by AfriForum Youth that if he fails to do everything in his ability to ensure the safety of students, the civil rights organisation will approach the court to force him to take action.

During recent meetings held by #ReformPUK, the leaders of the radical pressure group were extremely aggressive and even threatened to remove the Totius statue. AfriForum Youth’s concern regarding the safety of students has increased after Prof Kgwadi apparently instructed that the gates of the university campus must not be locked when #ReformPUK is busy protesting.

“It is utterly irresponsible of Prof Kgwadi and it seems as though he doesn’t have the concerns of all the students at heart,” said Hans Gildenhuys, Chairperson of the AfriForum Youth branch in Potchefstroom.

AfriForum Youth further requested that Prof Kgwadi must give the assurance that exams will by no means be disrupted by the protests. If exams are in fact disrupted, Prof Kgwadi can expect an urgent court order from AfriForum Youth which will force him to put an immediate stop to the protests.

“Prof Kgwadi is the responsible person, and if he does not comply with his duties, we will force him to do it,” concluded Gildenhuys.
