ANC YOUTH LEAGUE WELCOMES KENNY KUNENE'S STATEMENT ON SUSHI PARTIES.
02 February 2011
The African National Congress Youth League welcomes the statement issued by Kenny Kunene on serving food from human bodies, a practice the ANC, its Leagues and Alliance partners had unreservedly condemned. In the statement released on the 2nd of February, Kenny Kunene said, "It was never my intention to associate the eating of sushi off models with the ANC, and I accept the ANC's condemnation of the practice and understand the reasons. Therefore, I will not be throwing or attending any further such sushi parties as I have nothing but respect for the leadership of the ANC and the guiding principles of the Movement. Were it not for the work and struggle of these ANC leaders, my leaders, the money that black businesspeople have made since 1994 would not have been possible, and this also applies to me".
The ANC Youth League welcomes the commitment to stop serving food on human bodies as such undermines the ethos of the movement. The ANC Youth League had in more than one occasion disapproved of such practice in the past and publicly voiced our disapproval. We also appreciate that Kenny Kunene appreciates the ANC's leadership of society with regards to values which we should all espouse. The ANC Youth League and its leadership will together with the ANC continue to speak openly against practices that have potential to undermine the ethos of our revolution.
