MANYI: TRANSFERRING RESPONSIBILITIES AT BMF DUE TO POLICITAL PRESSURE
"The Freedom Front Plus views the transfer of Jimmy Manyi's duties as president of the Black Management Forum (BMF) to his deputy, as a reaction to the increasing pressure opposing his double role and subsequently conflict of interests as the BMF president and other positions and government spokesperson.
This step of Manyi is a small victory for the FF Plus but the pressure on Manyi has to be kept up until he resigns from his public position. Manyi's vendetta against minorities in South Africa makes him incompetent to hold a position in the public service because he is unwilling to serve the South African public without any prejudice," Adv. Anton Alberts, the FF Plus' parliamentary spokesperson on Labour said.
The FF Plus last week requested the Public Service Commission to investigate Jimmy Manyi's appointment as head of the government's communication service in terms of the Public Service Act 103 of 1994. In terms of section 30(a) and (b) public servants are not allowed to hold positions outside of the public service and receive any remuneration for it. There is quite a lot of information which indicates that Manyi also holds other positions, apart from the position of president of the BMF.
"The Public Service Commission was requested to investigate these irregularities and to make a recommendation as to whether Manyi's appointment in the public service is in order or not. The minister of Public Service and Administration may give approval for a public servant to hold positions outside of the public service if it does not interfere with the adhering to the legal obligation of placing the whole of his/her time at the disposal of the public service. We however do not know if this may be the case with Jimmy Manyi and that is why we are requesting the investigation," Adv. Alberts said.
The FF Plus' investigation has brought to light that Manyi also holds the following positions:
