My focus is on dislodging the DA from power - Marius Fransman

ANC WCape leader explains why he turned down nomination to party's NEC

Focus on dislodging DA from power in Western Cape

I declined the nomination to the NEC in order to fully focus on dislodging the DA from power in the Western Cape in 2014. Our strategy People's Path to Power has already shown demonstrable results and the imperatives of this strategy requires that I in my capacity as Chairperson of the ANC Western Cape ensure that we remain focused and diligently execute our plan to take back the Western Cape.

Whilst it would undoubtedly be an immense honour to serve on the NEC, it is in the best strategic interest of the ANC Western Cape that as Chairperson I rather remain fully committed to intensifying our programme in the province which includes unifying and rebuild our movement.

Our strategy to reconnect with communities and mobilise the most vulnerable sectors of our society has already exposed the privileged underbelly of the DA Government in the province.

I have no doubt that the interests of the province will be adequately served by other capable cadres from the Western Cape that have been nominated.

Our collective duty remains to ensure that we hegemonise the National Democratic Revolution as we strive to build a province and country that is non-racist, non-sexist and democratic to ensure a better life for all.

I sincerely wish to thank those who nominated me to serve in the NEC. I am honoured, but in the broader interest of the organization and in the light of our priority to lead the fight to unseat the DA, I have humbly declined the nomination.
