Nokuthula Xaba stays rent free in nurses home - Jack Bloom

DA MPL says ANC councillor has now been served with a 30 day notice of eviction

ANC COUNCILLOR STAYS RENT FREE IN GOVT PREMISES

Johannesburg ANC Councillor Nokuthula Xaba has been staying rent free at a nurses home in Hillbrow owned by the Gauteng Health Department.

This was disclosed by Gauteng Health MEC Hope Papo today in reply to my questions in the Gauteng Legislature.

According to Papo, she occupies three rooms at the Hospital Street nurses home, and has not paid the due monthly rent.

As a result of my question, Xaba has been served 30 days notice of eviction and measures will be taken to recover the rent owing.

Councillor Xaba was previously ethically deficient because she refused to resign her position as a nurse with the department when she was elected to the Council in April last year.

She was forced by the department to resign as a nurse on 1 March this year, so she owes 9 months rent.

It is an utter disgrace that an elected representative lives rent free in state premises.

This clearly contravenes the councillor's code of ethics, and the Democratic Alliance will lay a complaint with the Johannesburg council about her unethical conduct.
