IFP: QUESTIONS THE CREDIBILTY OF FORTHCOMING ELECTIONS

The IFP has raised serious concerns about the credibility of the forthcoming elections in light of the recent damning report by the Public Protector on the IECs embroilment in a 'corrupt' lease agreement.

IFP Deputy National Chairperson, Mr Albert Mncwango, MP, said "The report on IEC corruption in a lease agreement raises more questions than answers. It also places the integrity and credibility of the forthcoming elections into serious doubt. The IEC's integrity now stands compromised!"

Mncwango further added that, "The IEC is an organisation which must lead by example, without incidents of mismanagement or maladministration tarnishing its image. How can South African voters be expected to accept and believe in the legitimacy of election results when the senior leadership of the IEC is embroiled in serious allegations of corruption?" said Mncwango.

"The IFP calls for an immediate forensic investigation into the entire leasing agreement. We also call for the immediate suspension of Advocate Tlakula and the other IEC officials involved with this deal. In addition, the business relationship between Advocate Pansy Tlakula and Parliament's finance portfolio committee chairman, Thaba Mufamadi must be further investigated with regards to possible conflicts on interest in this matter," concluded Mncwango.
