Release report on motion to insource security guards and cleaners – EFF Ekurhuleni

Fighters say it is perplexing that a genuine motion aimed at improving working conditions is being delayed by indifferent leadership

EFF in Ekurhuleni calls for the immediate release of the progress report on the EFF motion to insource security guards and cleaners

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Ekurhuleni are calling for the immediate release of the long-overdue progress report on the EFF's motion to insource security guards and cleaners. In 2022, the EFF Caucus in Ekurhuleni presented a motion to insource these workers, which was adopted by the council despite the ANCs rejection.

Although the motion was adopted by the council and a feasibility study was sanctioned, we have yet to receive the report. It is perplexing that a well-considered and genuine motion by the EFF, aimed at improving working conditions and providing employment benefits for our people, is being delayed by the indifferent leadership in the City of Ekurhuleni.

We have consistently reported that the ANC, along with the DA and Action SA, have been obstructing our motion and preventing its implementation in its original form, despite its adoption by the council. This behavior demonstrates that these disingenuous organizations are motivated by political expediency rather than genuine concern for our people.

The EFF in Ekurhuleni maintains that the motion to insource security guards and cleaners aligns with the goal of building state internal capacity, which would eliminate the tendering system that continues to undermine fair remuneration and dignity for our people. Abolishing tenders would ensure that all employment benefits are directed to the deserving people and eradicate corruption. Security guards and cleaners work under precarious conditions, it is only fair that they receive their wages without a middleman and the benefits that allow them an opportunity to improve their living conditions for the better.

The EFF strongly condemns those who are delaying and obstructing the proper implementation of insourcing to serve their nefarious personal interests over the well-being of exploited workers. The EFF in Ekurhuleni will continue to demand the release of the progress and feasibility report and will ensure that the motion is fully implemented for the benefit of the working class.
