Student protests being hijacked by opportunists - YCL Limpopo

Young communists say Zuma and Nzimande ended #feesmustfall on Friday

YCL Limpopo condemns the continued strikes by shenanigans

The Young Communist League of South Africa (Ufasimba) condemn the violence currently purported by counter revolutionary forces in our institutions of higher learning. We understand that the campaign for F ees Must Fall# was concluded on Friday by the President of the Republic of South Africa Jacob Zuma, Minister of Higher Education Dr Blade Nzimande, Vice Chancellors, SRC Presidents and PYA leaders. The issue of 0% increment in institutions of higher learning in 2016 was adequately addressed and anyone who persuades the matter is clearly having a different agenda altogether.

Ufasimba supports a call for free quality education, however it is imperative to follow all the due process and allows the ANC led government to put legislations in place that will be able to regulate and facilitate the provision of free education in institutions of higher learning.

The YCLSA in Limpopo is amongst the first organisation to support SASCO in its call for free education and therefore we urge all students to raise this matter within the confines of the law and follow all the due process to take course. The YCLSA still believe that the attainment of free quality education  remain vital to the working class in South Africa as articulated in the Freedom Charter that said’’ The doors of learning shall be open to all’. It is against this backdrop that students have rights to education in terms of the RSA Constitution, and the historically whites institutions such as Wits University, University Of Cape Town, Rhodes University must refrain from managing high enrolment of students through exorbitant tuition fees.

We note with concern the high level of opportunism, and anarchy that seeks to high jack the student struggle to persuade their own political agenda for 2016 Local government elections. The EFF, DASO, and PASMA have drawn a smear campaign to declare that the ANC led government is not capable of governing the country, but students have proved them wrong by protesting peacefully to Luthuli House of the ANC and Union Building. The YCLSA re-affirms and acknowledge the government intervention on 0% increment of fee and discourage members of the YCLSA from actively participating on third force programmes of vandalising University infrastructure, looting, and other criminal activities in the name of fees must fall campaign#

We appeal to the discipline members of YCLSA to desist from participating on these opportunistic activities that have no blessing of the entire PYA structures and leadership. It worth noting that these shenanigans have high jacked the struggle of our students whilst they know that their own agenda was sponsored by the imperialist outside the South African Boarders .Our members are urged to  to resume with academic activities and prepare for their examinations.

Let’s embrace the slogan of making education fashionable amongst the youth in order to achieve “Socialism in our lifetime”.
