EFF STATEMENT ON THE WASTEFUL LAND SURVEY WHICH DOES NOT HELP BRING OUR LAND BACK!
06 September 2013
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) is not surprised that the land survey process has beenused to subvert land reform instead of assisting the nation to redistribute land to the landless majority. The preliminary results announced by the Surveyor General(SG), Mr Mmuso Ribaindicate that the survey has not been conceptualised or implemented in a manner that would aid land redistribution, furthermore the survey result told the nation nothing new, therefore making the whole process expensive but useless.
It's not a secret that the colonial government in 1913 divided South Africa into 87% white owned land and reserved 13% for blacks. The 13% of the land is what comprises African reserves which later became the Bantustans. 100 years later the ANC tells the nation that the state owns 14% of the land including the homeland land. This was already known by everybodywho is concerned with land and who cares for the landless majority.
Shockingly the Surveyor General told the media that government doesn't know what race owns what percentage of land in SA. This is a lie and a cover up. To know what land is owned by whom one just has to look at government's own statistic of land redistribution. Since 1994 the ANC has redistributed less than8% back to black people. So almost 80% of the land is owned by less than 50 000 white households and trusts. This is a known fact. Why is the SG saying there is no information on this?
The problem in our country is not land survey; the problem is that the ANC is scared to redistribute land to the black majority. The land survey and the announced re-opening of the failed restitution claims process are cheap electioneering stunts that would not redistribute land.
