RESPONSE TO JACOB ZUMA'S THREATS TO TAKE ACTION
13 September 2012
It has come to our attention that in responding to the question of what he is going to do with the protests in the Mines by mineworkers for better salaries, Mr. Jacob Zuma said that there are other people who are involved in the incitement of violence and threatened to take action very soon. So that there is no confusion, if Jacob Zuma thinks that we are intimidated by threats to take action, he must know that we are not intimidated and we will never retreat in our support for all Mineworkers and all people who are downthrodden and poor in South Africa.
The Police, intelligence, and foreign spies have tried since the Marikana massacre to link President Julius Malema to the events before the protests by mineworkers. The police and crime intelligence went to the extent of torturing mineworkers who survived the massacre and got arrested by the police, hoping for non-existent confession that President Julius Malema incited violence and the protests by workers. For Jacob Zuma to join the band of those saying that workers can't think for themselves and that they can't stand against injustice is pure underming of the intelligence and basic human conciousness of mineworkers.
Jacob Zuma and those around him should begin to appreciate that mineworkers are human beings and can think and act on their own without any form of agitation. If there is any action to be taken, it must be against Mines bosses who disregard the provisions of the Mining charter and underpay mineworkers.
