When will Nkonyeni report herself to Public Protector? - IFP

Party says the silence from KZN speaker is concerning

IFP:  WHEN WILL NKONYENI REPORT HERSELF TO THE PUBLIC PROTECTOR?

THE silence from the KwaZulu Natal Speaker, Honourable Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni on whether she has abided by her word to invite the Public Protector to assist her in clearing her name from alleged malicious accusations, is concerning.

"It has been more than 14 days and still we have not heard anything on the speaker's invitation to the Public Protector. If the allegations made against Nkonyeni are not true, why she has taken this long to request for her probe?" said Leader of official opposition, Honorable Blessed Gwala.

Nkonyeni who is currently charged in the case Three Amigo's, she has also faced charges of fraud and corruption in connection with the mammogram cancer scanning machine however those charges were withdrawn due to lack of evidence.

IFP is disturbed by Nkonyeni's unethical behavior and the image of the provincial house.  Moreover IFP is disgusted by the Provincial Executive's delay in taking action against those alleged to be involved in cases such as fraud, corruption and other mismanagement cases.

"We fully expect the executive to release Nkonyeni off her duties until she has been cleared.  Nkonyeni has been accused in too many cases that leave the public to question the moral compass of the house.  Truth is that, when an ANC member is not politically expendable, they are protected. Its time that Nkonyeni is held accountable and the ruling party must be fair and have the guts to make her pay for all her inappropriate activities," said Honorable Gwala, leader of the official opposition.
