Zille responsible for tensions between Lwandle evictees and Blackheath community - SACP Cape Town

Party says Premier lacks sympathy for people subject to winter conditions without any place to live

CLASH BETWEEN LWANDLE EVICTED RESIDENTS AND BLACKHEATH COMMUNITY: HELEN ZILLE RESPONSIBLE

Wednesday, 11 June 2014 - Cape Town

The statement made by Hellen Zille on SAFM am live yesterday morning on the relocation of the evicted Lwandle residents confirms that the DA-led administration at both Provincial and municipal spheres orchestrated the clash between the evicted Lwandle residents and Blackheath community.

Clearly, Zille might have encouraged those residents not to welcome the evicted Lwandle residents because of what she said is going to comprise the bond houses. This shows that Zille does not have sympathy with people who are subject to the winter cold and rains as they have no place to live.

This arrogant attitude confirms the reality that, the next five years will be a long and daunting years for the people of Western Cape under the leadership of the racist liberal DA government.

The basic stratagem of the DA when it comes to working class communities remains the "swaart gevaar", in the main, divide and rule based on race and class. As the SACP, we appeal to our people not to allow the DA to divide the Western Cape working class.

The current situation is an attempt by the DA led administration to undermine the progressive intervention which was spear-headed by our National Government following the inhumane eviction of Lwandle community.

The ANC-led national government described the eviction of the people without any alternative as inhumane and illegal. This also follows the court ruling in favour of the Marikana residents near Philippi who were also evicted by the City of Cape in 2013.

Having evicted the Lwandle community without giving them any alternative accommodation it is now clear the DA wants to spawn chaos in an attempt to undermine ANC government.

The Western Cape working class must unite against the captains of capital, the DA.
