Opposition names and shames those who voted against Motion of No Confidence in President
The ANC MPs that once again put Jacob Zuma First and South Africa Last
02 March 2016
The DA below makes public the list of ANC Members of Parliament (MPs) that voted yesterday to put Jacob Zuma first, and the best interests of the South African people last. We believe making this list public is important, so that the South African people know which of their elected representatives picked the job of one man, over the futures of 8.2 million unemployed South Africans.
Most notably, Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa yesterday demonstrated clearly that he is also prepared to sell out the South African people in order to protect the best interests of Jacob Zuma. Mr Ramaphosa voted to effectively protect the President from being held accountable for his undermining of our state institutions and the economic downturn he has overseen.
Other senior ANC MPs who voted to put Zuma first and South Africa last include:
Minister of Police, Nathi Nhleko;
-->
Minister of Public Works, Thulas Nxesi;
Minister of Transport, Dipuo Peters;
Minister of Higher Education, Dr Blade Nzimande;
Minister of Human Settlements, Lindiwe Sisulu;
-->
Newly appointed Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Des Van Rooyen;
Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana;
Minister of Health, Aaron Motsoaledi
Minister of Science and Technology, Naledi Pandor; and
-->
Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies.
While it is not surprising, it is equally concerning that the Economic Freedom Fighters, under the leadership of Julius Malema, opted to not participate in the debate, or to support President Zuma being removed from office. At a time when they could have made a difference, they chose to sell-out the people of South Africa just like the ANC. They have once again proven themselves untrustworthy in bringing about change the people of South Africa need. Silence is compliance, and a shadow has been cast on the EFFs true intentions, as well as on their independence from the ANC.
South Africans have the chance to bring about the change they wish to see but registering to vote this weekend, and later voting for the DA at the Local Government Elections this year. The DA stands for one nation, united in its freedom, access to opportunities and driven by fairness. The DA has continuously shown its commitment to delivering the best to citizens where we govern. The time is ripe for South Africans to choose a party that will put them first, every day.
