The Hawks have arrested another cash-in-transit suspect who has been on the wanted list in connection with the robbery in Boksburg in December last year.
Collin Maphalala also known as Chippa or Thabo will appear in court in Boksburg tomorrow. He was arrested in Volksrust, kwaZulu-Natal yesterday (15/02/2010) in a combined operation involving the Hawks and Crime Intelligence.
He has been positively linked to the robbery where R10-million was taken from the SBV cash management centre. He is also implicated in the R2-million Thembisa cash-in-transit heist in 2008.
The Thembisa case involves one of the masterminds who was arrested earlier this year Keke Moeketsi Masike. He is still in custody after he was nabbed in Fourways in January this year.
Following the arrest, Maphalala led the officers to R120 400 in cash that he had hidden at his Ekurhuleni home. Police also confiscated a Golf 5 which was bought from the proceeds of the crimes.
The arrests bring to seven the number of people arrested from the list of the original ten that the unit wanted to arrest in a campaign has been backed by the National Commissioner Bheki Cele who has vowed that criminals "will not rule this country".
