ABZ camp spreading lies and disinformation - YCL

League rejects report of possible elite pact between Zuma and Motlanthe

YCLSA APPALLED BY LIES AND RUMORS FROM ABZ

The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] is appalled by the level of desperation leading up to the Mangaung Conference of the ANC and the spreading of dangerous rumors and lies about our leaders by the so-called Anything But Zuma faction (ABZ).

Reports that there were meetings held to discuss a possible elite pact wherein Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe becomes President of the country post Mangaung and President Zuma remains in the ANC are nothing but desperate lies spread by the so-called ABZ (see Star report).

These lies are concocted in order to hide the confusion lying within the so-called ABZ and the fact that the alliance in its entirety has no faith in their leadership, plus the fact that DP (Motlanthe) has disappointed them by sticking his guns to the ANC internal processes and refuses to be drawn into their power hungry strategy.

What is more unfortunate is the placing of our General Secretary, Cde. Blade Nzimande, in a fictitious meeting claimed to be discussing on behalf of branches of the ANC on who should lead.

As we have said before, the Branches of the ANC will decide on who leads, and not some factional secret society with close links to the so-called Friends of the ANCYL. We warn media houses not to fall into the trap of becoming victims of unverified and false information which seeks to elevate individuals whose lust are for power and nothing else.

We further warn these individuals that if they continue, some of whom are in the leadership of the ANC in Gauteng, we will name and shame them and expose their "night-shift" politics.

The YCLSA believes that as we approach Mangaung Conference of the ANC, we have to abandon tendencies which seek to further divide the Organisation. Our responsibility is to restore the faith and credibility of the people towards the ANC and the alliance as the true and genuine leaders of our society.

We cannot afford to see a repeat of what happened in Polokwane five years ago when our country was divided because the ANC was also tearing itself apart. Mangaung should be about healing and correcting that past. It is for this reason that we believe in continuity, stability and change without giving room to forces of division and anarchy.
