Andile Lili must go to prison

The DA welcomes news that Andile Lili’s incitement to murder case has been set down for trial next year.

As the face of the real ANC in the Western Cape, it is appalling that Andile Lili now faces an incitement to murder trial, after he publicly called on community members to take the law into their own hands and brutally kill suspected criminals.

Mr Lili has been in and out of court for several months – not only on the incitement charge, but also for throwing faeces in public places. He and eight others were found guilty earlier this year of contravening the Civil Aviation Act for throwing faeces at Cape Town International Airport.

I am glad that Lili’s terror on the people of the Western Cape is close to its end. It is time that Lili ends up where he belongs – in prison.

It is telling that the Western Cape ANC has not to date acted against their own executive member for publicly inciting murder.

Andile Lili certainly represents all that is bad about a party that once cared for people.
