The Law is catching up with Andile Lili

The DA in the Western Cape welcomes the arrest of the ANC Provincial Executive Committee member, Andile Lili. We call for a swift handover of the case for prosecution.

Mr Lili was arrested last night on charges of incitement after calling on supporters to take the law into their own hands and to “kill criminals”.

Mr Lili’s statements were utterly reckless and irresponsible and we are glad that he has been called to account.

Ours is a democratic society, founded on the rule of law. The DA supports the values of human dignity and of freedom, fairness and opportunity. Mob justice and vigilantism is the direct opposite of this.

Too often the ANC in the Western Cape behave as if they are exempt from prosecution. Mr Lili’s arrest is a reminder that we are all equal before the Law.
