COPE moves to effect Shilowa expulsion - Dexter

Party applies for Final Order to settle matter once and for all

COPE MOVES TO OBTAIN FINAL ORDER ON SHILOWA EXPULSION

Following Mr Shilowa's failure to use his right to contest the Interim Interdict against him on the basis of a 24 hours notice period,  the Congress of the People has now instructed its legal team to apply for a Final Order that will settle the Shilowa issue once and for all.

Summons was served  on Mr Shilowa on Friday morning 18 February 2011 and we are in receipt of a confirmation letter from the Sheriff to that effect.

It appears that Mr Shilowa had no real intention to oppose his expulsion on the grounds of serious misconduct and financial improprieties and allowed seven days to lapse without any action from his side.  In the event that he chooses to do so now, he will have to follow normal Rules of Court pertaining to the filing of opposing papers.

Our decision to proceed with the action arises out of COPE's intention to seek a Final Order on his expulsion from the High Court as expeditiously as possible.  This is done to once and for all cap the Shilowa faction's frolics and foil attempts to destabilize the party in the run-up to Local Government Elections.
