EFF statement on the rape charges withdrawn against 14 men in the Krugersdorp gang rape case
27 October 2022
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) notes that the Krugersdorp Magistrate Court acquitted the fourteen men accused of rape, sexual assault and robbery with aggravating circumstances early today. They were accused of gang raping eight women who were in Krugersdorp filming a music video in July 2022. The court acquitted the fourteen men due to their DNA results that could not be linked to the crime.
Sexual violence by men against women continues spiraling because of the fundamental failures of the entire justice system. Injustice is easily accessible via bribery, undue interference and downright incompetency. The possibility that the DNA testing process was compromised is an unfortunate reality. If indeed all fourteen men are innocent, then we are further assured of the dismal dysfunction of the South African Police Service (SAPS). This crippling incompetence is precisely why women do not report violence and sexual violence to authorities.
Eight women today have joined the young woman who the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana sexually violated while she was working. They also join the woman domestic worker who the State President, Cyril Ramaphosa had tortured to cover up his Phala Phala
criminal activities. All these women join millions of women who are on the receiving end of gross injustice. The ANC controlled state inflicts secondary wounds. Ramaphosa continues babbling about Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) undisrupted by South Africans.
