STAFF PROTEST AT YUSUF DADOO HOSPITAL
The Yusuf Dadoo Hospital in Krugersdorp is in turmoil as angry staff have staged protest demonstrations at lunch-time every day last week.
They say that there have been irregular management appointments, that certain tenders were corrupt, and equipment shortages have not been addressed.
Grievances include the following:
- incompetent managers
- a broken switchboard that keeps dropping calls
- patients sometimes sleep on the floor because of a bed shortage
- a contractor failed to complete the building of the nurses residence
- an electronic information board was left unfinished by a contractor
A broad range of staff have picketed, including doctors, nurses and NEHAWU members.
