SACP Mpumalanga Media Statement
The Provincial Executive Committee of the SACP in Mpumalanga met in their ordinary meeting on the 30thSeptember 2012 to reflect on the current political and socio- economic matters affecting our Province and the toiling masses of our people. We reviewed and evaluated our organisational preparedness to carry our sacred mission of leading the people of our Province, as part of the overall national agenda of bringing to fruition the socialist transformation of society , which we believe is the answer to the misery the present capitalist system is bringing to the people of our province and nationally.
We reflected on the state of our Province, in implementing the National Democratic Revolution, which is about resolving the three interrelated apartheid and colonial legacy of national oppression, gender inequality and class exploitation, which the PEC believes are the fundamental challenges that society in general and African working people in particular are still facing at this epoch of our transition.
The PEC calls on our people to fight against the two interrelated threats to the thorough going transformation of society which is firstly the so called constitutionalists led by the DA, which is nothing but a disguised neo-liberal agenda, whose objective is to continue the imperialist agenda of exploiting the human and natural resources of this country as is happening in our mines, farms and other economic sectors.
Our people are under the yoke of labour brokers, earning next to nothing for their contribution to wealth creation in our country. These so called constitutionalists are defending with all their might, what is for intent and purpose a modern day slavery and human trafficking disguised as a job placement agency.
The second is the populist demagogic agenda, whose face is the former youth league president, which is willing to auction our people and country to the highest imperialist bidder, just to get an opportunity to control tenders and patronise poor people for political gain and collapse the people's revolution.
We further call on all progressive structures in the Province to ensure that our revolutionary movement is not captured by these reactionary forces, who will use any means, including their corruption tainted money to try to buy political favours as we approach our historic Mangaung congress.
Our movement is not for sale, this should be a message that those who want to use our revolutionary structures for their own selfish and greedy intentions should get from all of us who are the true patriots of our country and committed to the thorough going transformation of society, to bring about a non-racial, non sexiest, democratic, united and prosperous country.
The PEC welcomed the maturing relations of our alliance in the Province as symbolised by our ground breaking alliance ten-a-side which was held earlier this month.
Further called on the ANC in the Province as the leader of the alliance to mobilise all progressive forces in the implementation of the NDR to deal with the present challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality which still unevenly affect Black people in general, Africans in particular, women and working people.
The PEC urges the middle class who are the beneficiaries of progressive and transformative legislative interventions in the current transition, to join their fellow working class compatriots in fighting against and exposure of the capitalist illusions of material benefit (which in reality is a debt driven material accumulation) and fight for the change of colonial and apartheid property relations.
We further call on progressive intellectuals to dispel a lie created by the anti-majoritarian relic of apartheid, e.g the De Kleck foundation with their infamous: "we have not transferred the power to the masses but to the constitution", thinking that the constitution is not for the masses, in so doing trying to protect their apartheid colonial privileges.
The PEC further urges all revolutionary intellectuals to dismiss with contempt the theory of the so called open opportunity society crusades in a still highly unequal society.
We noted with concern the continued media crusade against the progressive forces in our country and view this negative campaign in a dim light, as we believe that this can only achieve nothing but the further polarisation of our people and embolden those who want the democratic agenda to collapse, then call for international intervention.
We are for a robust and independent media, not a media that is willing to drive an agenda that will further divide our people just to increase sale of newspapers and increase viewership at the expense of national cohesion and unity. Media that has no respect for the people's government and institutions, especially continuously attacking the integrity of the popularly elected people's President.
The Party in Mpumalanga will be launching their provincial Red October programme in Harold Molobela District in Thulamahashe on the 14 October 2012. We call on all the people of our province to attend this important event which will be launched under the theme:
"PEOPLE'S POWER IN ACTION TO DEFEAT CORRUPTION"
